hitting the road

We awoke to a few raindrops disturbing the still of the water. Finally some decent weather. My Taswegian skin is at odds with sunshine. Despite the threat of rain I pull on my runners and head out along the same path I rode on last night. I come across the same doggie from last night and say hello. Very talented animals here, they speak French and English.

Today we continued up the Canal de Garonne. We do some handwashing first and make the most of the wind out on deck, before I join Kim and Toby riding on the bike path. Every other day it's just been too hot but the clouds and the wind make for good riding weather. We jump back on at one of the locks for lunch. We pull up for the night at Pont de Sables. Our plan for coming up this way was to visit a Rembrandt on display in a church at Le mas-d'agenais, however we found out yesterday it's not there and has been taken to England for a touch up.
Me, Toby and Kim on the bikes.

Instead we explore the village on our bikes, find a post office to post some postcards and return to cook dinner. As dining out isn't exactly the cheapest thing to do here, we're enjoying shopping at the local grocers and cooking on the boat. After dinner Dad and I head out on the bikes, this time venturing off the path and following some narrow roads. Corn grows high on both sides of the road and every house seems to have a vegetable garden and chooks.
